Hi, I’m Rakiba!

I offer a safe, caring, and engaging home-based environment where children can learn, play, and grow at their own pace. With over 20 years of experience in early childhood education, I focus on supporting each child’s emotional, social, and early learning development through gentle guidance and meaningful, hands-on activities.

From gardening and dancing to creative art and baking, every day is designed to build confidence and spark curiosity. I also work closely with parents to make sure each child feels supported both here and at home.

About My Day Care

  • Small, Home Based Setting

    With a lower educator-to-child ratio than traditional childcare centres, I’m able to give each child more individual support, attention, and guidance throughout the day.

    Children learn best when they’re having fun. I provide a balance of structured and free-play experiences that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

    I understand that every family’s schedule is different. I offer a range of flexible care options, including:

    Weekend care depending on availability

    I value open, honest communication with families. Parents receive regular updates, conversations, and observations about their child’s progress and wellbeing.

What Our Day Looks Like

Explore

Children spend time outdoors each day, exploring the garden, caring for plants, and discovering the world around them. Outdoor play is always weather-dependent, and I follow SunSmart practices, including shade play, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing, to make sure children stay safe and comfortable.

Create

Arts, crafts, messy play, sensory activities, and baking allow children to express themselves through hands-on experiences. These activities help build creativity, confidence, and early problem-solving skills.

Learn

Through play-based experiences, children build early skills in language, numeracy, and problem-solving. These learning moments support school readiness in a natural, enjoyable way.

Move

Music, dancing, and movement activities help children strengthen coordination, balance, and self-expression.

Rest

Children have quiet time each day, and those who need to nap are supported to rest safely and comfortably. Rest times follow each child’s individual routine and needs.

Healthy Snacks

Parents provide meals, and I provide fresh fruit and milk daily to keep children nourished and energised throughout the day.

All care is provided through Our Village Family Day Care, ensuring high standards, registered support, and adherence to national quality and safety requirements.

Here’s what you can expect:

1. Initial Conversation

We’ll chat about your child, your needs, and whether I currently have availability that suits your family.

2. Book a Visit

You’re welcome to come and meet me, see the play environment, and ask any questions. This is a great opportunity for your child to explore the space too.

3. Discuss Your Child’s Routine

We’ll talk about your child’s interests, routines, sleep needs, comfort items, and how I can support them as they settle in.

4. Complete Enrolment Forms

If you’d like to proceed, enrolment is completed through Our Village Family Day Care. They will assist you with all required paperwork, including CCS (Child Care Subsidy) if applicable.

5. Start Date

We’ll agree on a start date that works for your family.

About Me

Hi, I’m Rakiba, and I’m a Family Day Care educator with more than 20 years of experience. I began my journey in early childhood education in 2001 and completed my Diploma in Children’s Services in 2011, which helped me deepen my understanding of how young children learn and grow. I’ve also raised two daughters of my own, which has shaped my approach to care with empathy, patience, and a strong sense of family.

I am proudly registered with Our Village Family Day Care in Sunbury, and I’m committed to providing a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for every child in my care. Being part of an accredited scheme means I follow national quality and safety standards at all times.

I truly love what I do. Watching children grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity is one of the best parts of my job. Some of the children I cared for many years ago are now studying at university, and seeing them reach these milestones brings me so much joy.

My approach is simple: I care for each child as if they were my own. I focus on creating a calm, nurturing space where children feel safe to explore, play, and learn. Every day includes hands-on experiences like gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, sensory play, and dancing. I also have experience caring for children with additional needs, and I make sure every child feels included and supported.

To keep your child safe, I maintain all required certifications, including:

  • Diploma in Children’s Services

  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification

  • Asthma & Anaphylaxis Certification

  • Working With Children Check

  • Police Check
